Rotary’s 7 Areas of Focus
Local Projects
The Rotaract Club of North Pinellas is dedicated to local service projects that align with Rotary’s seven areas of focus. We partner with Keep Pinellas Beautiful to conduct beach and park clean-ups, ensuring environmental sustainability. Our collaboration with Feeding Tampa Bay helps fight hunger by providing meals to those in need, while our support for The Shepherd Center and Metropolitan Ministries addresses economic and health disparities by aiding homeless and low-income individuals. These initiatives collectively contribute to the betterment of our community, reflecting our commitment to Rotary’s mission of making a lasting, positive impact. We are always looking to get involved in new ways, so please reach out if you have an idea!
International Projects
Looking ahead, the Rotaract Club of North Pinellas is excited to expand our impact through a potential Rotary International project, with aims to launch as early as 2026. We are considering initiatives such as a water project in Guatemala or Ghana, focusing on providing clean and accessible water to underserved communities, or addressing some needs that our Rotaract friends in the Caribbean have expressed. These projects not only align with Rotary’s commitment to fighting disease and promoting health but also foster international goodwill and understanding. End Polio Now Campaign
The End Polio Now campaign is Rotary International’s flagship global initiative dedicated to eradicating polio worldwide. Launched in 1985, the campaign aims to eliminate the poliovirus through widespread vaccination, surveillance, and public awareness efforts. Rotary International collaborates with global partners, including the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to achieve this goal. The campaign focuses on immunizing children in polio-endemic and high-risk countries, strengthening health systems to ensure effective vaccine delivery, and mobilizing communities to participate in vaccination efforts. Through advocacy, fundraising, and volunteer support, Rotary members worldwide have contributed significantly to reducing polio cases by over 99%. End Polio Now has made remarkable progress, with only 2 countries remaining where polio is still endemic. The initiative represents Rotary’s commitment to public health and showcases the power of collective action in achieving a polio-free world.
